8 simple and effective ways to reduce hair loss

Hair loss is one of the most common problems worldwide, and the causes can range from pregnancy, stress, poor diet, or even age.

It is never a bad idea to consult with your doctor to determine the cause behind your hair loss or thinning, but here are some very simple ways you can incorporate into your daily life to reduce its effect.

1. Diets

Being conscious of everything you eat and maintaining a healthy diet is incredibly essential in limiting hair loss. Protein is crucial as it is the foundation for all sorts of organs, including hair. Make sure you’re eating a good amount of protein from a variety of sources like milk, eggs, and fish.

Omega-3 fatty acids can also help with hair growth. You can get omega-3s from fatty fish like salmon and from nuts and seeds like ground flaxseeds and chia seeds. Make sure to also snack on berries and almonds for a dose of vitamins C and E!

2. Supplements

Providing your body with the necessary nutrients and vitamins is important to keep your body healthy and nurtured. Vitamin A is found in retinoids, which are known to increase the rate of hair growth. It can also help with sebum production, keeping the scalp healthier and able to retain more hairs.

Fill your diet with foods rich in vitamin A, such as sweet potatoes, sweet peppers, and spinach, just to name a few.

Scientists also have determined that vitamins A, B, C, D, iron, selenium, and zinc are all important to hair growth and retention, specifically with healthy cell productions. Multivitamins are available in grocery stores or you can always ask your doctor to prescribe them for you.

3. De-stress

Studies in the past have found medical evidence linking stress with hair loss. Make sure to destress as much as you can, using simple breathing techniques or meditation daily. These alternative therapies not only reduce stress but can also restore hormonal balance.

4. Avoid Alcoholic Beverages

If you are experiencing hair loss but not sure what’s causing it, chances are it’s due to your alcohol intake. Drinking alcohol reduces hair growth and causes your hair follicles to weaken over time. So it’s best to decrease or eliminate alcohol to see a noticeable increase in hair growth.

5. Rub green tea into your hair

Studies have shown that massaging green tea into your scalp may help curb hair loss problems. All you need to do is brew two bags of green tea in one cup of water, leave to cool and apply it to your hair. Leave it on for about an hour and rinse it off with your regular shampoo. One small 2016 study showed that participants suffering from hair loss showed improvement after massaging their scalp for four minutes every day.

It seems easy to get a shampoo for your hair loss problem and hoping it would be solved. Hair regrowth shampoos certain ingredients that can help you to regrow your hair naturally. A lot of companies have claims of having shampoos that can reduce hair loss, but most of the products just don’t work. They do not work because they do not contain beneficial ingredients.

8. Essential oils

Essential oils have been shown to reduce hair loss. A 1998 study divided 86 people with hair loss into two groups, one of which cedarwood oil mixed with lavender and rosemary into their scalps. After seven months, 43 percent of that group showed improvement in their condition.

Other essential oils you can use include lavender, lemongrass, and peppermint. Try mixing couple drops of any or all of these oils with a couple of tablespoons of neutral oil, like jojoba or grapeseed, and apply to the scalp for 10 minutes before washing.
